RENEW MWW 2019 Tutorial
POWDER-RENEW Summer School 2019
The first RENEW tutorial session was held during POWDER-RENEW summer school at University of Utah on September 11-12.
Through lab handouts, presentation and hands-on simulations, and experimentations the participants learned basic concepts of wireless communications, such as, OFDM, channel estimation. Furthermore, they got introduced to various MIMO techniques, namely, Maximal Ratio combining and Zero-forcing, and conjugate beam-forming. Through our provided material and guidance, the participants had the chance to implement and test these concepts in a real-life test-bed environment and compare their observations with what theory predicts as well as simulations.
Tutorial Agenda
- Theory Session: Wireless Comms concepts: capacity, channel, modulation, synchronization
- Hands-on session: MATLAB Simulations on a POWDER Experiment
- Theory Session: Advanced Concepts: OFDM, Equalization, MIMO, Precoding Techniques, Beamforming
- Experimentation Session: Running over-the-air experiments using MATLAB and Massive MIMO Base Station
- Mini-Project: Attendees took on a related mini-project and completed during the last day of the tutorial.
